Photovoltaics (PV) is the field of technology and research related to the application of solar cells for energy by converting sun energy (sunlight, including sun ultra violet radiation) directly into DC electricity that is then passed through inverters that changes the current to AC, the current we use in our national grid and homes. Due to the growing demand for clean sources of energy, the manufacture of solar cells and Photovoltaic arrays has expanded dramatically in recent years. Photovoltaic production has been doubling every 2 years, increasing by an average of 48 percent each year since 2002, making it one of the world’s fastest-growing energy technologies.

 

Photovoltaics

  1. Can be mounted in or on a pitched roof
  2. Can be mounted on A-frames on flat roofs
  3. Can be used to save money on developments with carbon offset targets to save money against Solat Thermal
  4. Can be used under the feed in tariff (due 2010) to reduce payback on investing in this product
  5. Qualifies for 'Renewable Obligation Certificates' or 'ROC's' with raising values per kWp installed

Our installers are trained in PV installation. DC current acts in a different way to AC current and is considered more dangerous by the industry. This technology is a specialist part of today’s construction industry and many of our clients realise that ownership of delivering a system like this needs to be taken by an expert in this field.
